چکیده

The principle of symmetric criticality allows one to reduce the search of symmetric critical points for the conformal total tension functional in a Kaluza–Klein conformal universe, to the search of closed curves in its gravitatory component which are critical points for certain r-elastic energy functionals. The constancy of the mean curvature is preserved in this reduction of symmetry. In this framework we study the r-elasticity of fibres in a semi-Riemannian warped tube. We obtain a wide class of tubes which are foliated by r-elastic circles and give some applications including a characterization of the photon sphere in a Schwarzschild spacetime from the point of view of the r-elasticity. © 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. The Emergence of Localized Gravity

We explore physics on the boundary of a Randall-Sundrum type model when the brane tension is slightly sub-critical. We calculate the masses of the Kaluza-Klein decomposition of the graviton and use a toy model to show how localized gravity emerges as the brane tension becomes critical. Finally, we discuss some aspects of the boundary conformal field theory and the AdS/CFT correspondence. ∗ matt...

Dimensional Reduction of Conformal Tensors and Einstein–Weyl Spaces⋆

Conformal Weyl and Cotton tensors are dimensionally reduced by a Kaluza– Klein procedure. Explicit formulas are given for reducing from four and three dimensions to three and two dimensions, respectively. When the higher dimensional conformal tensor vanishes because the space is conformallly flat, the lower-dimensional Kaluza–Klein functions satisfy equations that coincide with the Einstein–Wey...

Comment on Kaluza-Klein Spectrum of Gauge Fields in the Bigravity Model

We study behavior of bulk gauge field in the bigravity model in which two positive tension AdS4 branes in AdS5 bulk are included. We solve the equations of motions for Kaluza-Klein modes and determine the mass spectrum. It is shown that unlike the case of graviton, we find no ultralight Kaluza-Klein modes in the spectrum. General Definition of Gravitational Tension

In this note we give a general definition of the gravitational tension in a given asymp-totically translationally-invariant spatial direction of a space-time. The tension is defined via the extrinsic curvature in analogy with the Hawking-Horowitz definition of energy. We show the consistency with the ADM tension formulas for asymptotically-flat space-times, in particular for Kaluza-Klein black ...

The non-relativistic conformal symmetry found by Jackiw and Pi for the coupled Chern-Simons and gauged nonlinear Schrödinger equations in the plane is derived in a non-relativistic Kaluza-Klein framework.
